SOCIAL ENTERPRISE WORLD FORUM 2018 TRAVEL FUNDS
Social Enterprise World Forum will take place from 12-14th September 2018 at the Edinburgh International Convention Centre. As many as 1,200 delegates, with 400 from Scotland, 400 from the UK and Ireland, and 400 from international destinations are expected, and we want to make sure Canada is well represented! SEWF is the global platform to share stories, learn from others and celebrate progress together with colleagues from value-driven businesses from around the world. Participation presents Canadian social enterprises with a unique opportunity to learn about global models, innovation, solutions and create lasting connections. SEWF differs from other events as the focus is on the cumulative impact and experiences of social enterprises of all shapes, sizes, types and location. SEWF has been the forum for small organisations as well as large, rural and urban, community-controlled as well as entrepreneur led.
To apply for the travel funding, candidates must complete the online application form by July 25th. NB Only one application form per organisation will be accepted. The purpose of the funding is to support those who would otherwise not be able to participate. S4ES encourages applicants from specific groups (youth, women, persons with disabilities, members of visible minority groups, LGBTQ2; new Canadians) from across the country with selections being made on a regional basis.
Once successful applicants have been notified, they will provide S4ES with all relevant documentation for processing of the funding.
Eligible applicants are social enterprise practitioners, social entrepreneurs and community leaders who are able to leverage this opportunity in their own communities upon their return. All applicants must meet three criteria:
● Role in the social enterprise or intermediary
● Demonstrated need;
● Benefit to the organization or community
Selections would be made based on:
● Inclusion – encouraging applications from indigenous, youth, women, persons with disabilities, members of visible minority groups, LGBTQ2; new Canadians;
● Diverse representation of Social Enterprises;
● Geographic representation.
Successful Applicants should agree to write a blog/short-report/testimonial, after the event to highlight the experience and any benefits gained from attending SEWF 2018. These pieces will be used to raise awareness to promote attendance at future SEWF events and enable us to promote the value of organisation / governments / foundations providing bursaries for future SEWF participants.
